Married: Preferred
Notes:
The church of Christ that meets at 1825 Fulton Road in the city of Santa Rosa, California in beautiful Sonoma County, is looking for a gospel preacher (preferably)
full time.
We are looking for a person who can share a mindset of beginning a new work rather than just coming to continue the existence of a congregation of God's
people. This would take an energetic person who is ready to prepare and rally the troops for Christs work. Since we do not have elders, decisions concerning our
congregation are made at the mens' business meeting. The men have envisioned the preacher preparing lessons for Sunday morning and evening and teaching Bible class
on Sunday morning or Wednesday evening. He would also hold individual Bible studies with prospective and/or new members with the assistance of our members. Being
able to motivate the members and leading by example in personal work is an attribute the men feel is essential along with Bible based lessons. Being able to reach
out to, and communicate with the young people in our community is a definite attribute we are seeking in our preacher.
We have a Spanish-speaking congregation that
also meets in the building. Most of that group attend our English Bible classes and worship services as well as their own.
If interested in this position, please
send your resume along with the completed attached questionnaire (below). From those we wish to consider further, we will request a recording or video of one of your recent
sermons or lessons. If you live within 2 hours or so of our location and would consider driving here, we can schedule a time for you to preach in person and
fellowship with us.
Financial compensation is open for negotiation depending on agreed to hours, experience and abilities.
Questionnaire
- What do you feel your job duties are?
- What role(s) do you feel a preacher/minister should fulfill in the church?
- What are your feelings about eating on the church grounds or in the building, such as potlucks?
- Do you think the church has scriptural authority to take money from the church treasury and give it to needy non-members?
- What do you feel woman’s role is in the church?
- What are your thoughts about church benevolence for:
- Members of the church?
- Non-members?
- How would you work with members of a congregation that have different opinions on disputable matters?
- What kind of compensation package do you require?
- What are your beliefs on homosexuality as it relates to the church?
- What are your beliefs on divorce and remarriage?
- What are your hobbies and interests?
- What are your thoughts about the church receiving income by renting/leasing church property?
- Do you have any experience hosting gospel meetings?
- As a preacher at times you will be required to visit the fallen away, having daily individual bible study classes, visiting the sick, perform weddings and funerals, working with/teaching the youth, visiting new and existing members, evangelizing and doing outreach to the community. Are there any of these that you would feel uncomfortable performing, and if so, why?
- How do you feel about working with a group that desires to have elders, but does not have them yet?
- Where do you get your guidance (not inspiration) for bible study topics and sermons?
- What foreign languages do you fluently speak, read or write?
- Where do you think a preacher should provide counseling and where should he not?
- How would you motivate church members to participate and become more active in Christian activities?
- How do you feel that you are qualified for this position?
- What is your ministerial/preaching/teaching experience background? (Please provide us with your chronological history).
- How would you help develop leaders out of the men in a congregation?
Please furnish at least 3 references with first and last names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses (if available).
You can respond to the questionnaire via email or hardcopy.
